"Many of my friends are artists and makers, and I love to have their work visible in my home. I really enjoy working with clients who also have a passion for collecting."
Mark learned the importance of bringing order to his acquisitions through a lifelong venture of collecting art, books, pottery, craft, textiles, artifacts, and ephemera.
With a background in Graphic Design, Gabberts Designer Mark Lewis envisions interiors in a particular way, bringing a discernible sense of visual organization to every client. His specialty relies on the careful balance of colors and patterns, visual weight, and line quality, allowing him to tailor rooms that are neither museum spare nor maximalist overload while still showcasing the things his clients love. Comfort doesn't take a backseat, though, and he looks to impart cozy and tactile furnishings and textiles into a room.
Elaborating, Mark says, "the spaces I enjoy creating feel classic and considered, not "decorated" but a sense of having been acquired over time, even if we've compressed that timeline!"
Mark truly enjoys unusual pairings and being challenged by the meld, remarking, "finding a fun mix isn't about being clever, but about the juxtapositions that make all the elements feel fresh. Designing interiors that feel classic isn't just about avoiding a trend but finding a timelessness that you only get when you're designing something singular and just for you."
